Write for Ohio Tax Guide
Ohio Tax Guide is an independent publication helping Ohioans understand their state and local taxes in plain English — no jargon, no fluff. Our readers are everyday Ohio taxpayers: employees, retirees, parents, freelancers, and small business owners who want clear, accurate answers about Ohio income tax, property tax, school district tax, and municipal taxes.
If you can explain Ohio taxes clearly and accurately, we’d love to hear from you.
Why Write for Us
- A focused, engaged audience. Every reader is here for one reason: Ohio taxes. Your article lands in front of people actively looking for exactly what you wrote about.
- Author byline and bio. Every guest post carries your name, a short bio, and one link to your website or profile.
- Editorial polish. We fact-check and lightly edit every piece so it meets our accuracy standards — your work will look its best.
- Real impact. Our guides are referenced by readers, local organizations, and other publishers. Good work here gets noticed.
Topics We Accept

- Ohio property tax: assessments, levies, exemptions, and relief programs
- School district income tax and local/municipal taxes (RITA, CCA)
- Ohio small business taxes: CAT, employer withholding, sales tax
- Retirement and senior tax breaks in Ohio
- College savings (CollegeAdvantage/529) and education tax benefits
- Analysis of new Ohio tax legislation and what it means for residents
Have an Ohio tax angle we haven’t covered? Pitch it — original angles get priority.
What We Don’t Publish
- Generic personal finance content with no Ohio connection
- Get-rich-quick schemes, crypto tips, or investment advice
- Purely promotional articles written to sell a product or service
- Content spun by AI tools or rewritten from other sites
- Articles already published elsewhere
- Anything with inaccurate figures — every rate, date, and dollar amount must be verifiable
Guest Post Guidelines
- Original content only. Your article must be 100% unique and unpublished elsewhere — including your own blog.
- Length: 1,200+ words. Cover the topic thoroughly. Step-by-step guides and worked examples do well here.
- Plain English. Write the way you’d explain it to a neighbor. Short paragraphs, clear headings, no jargon without explanation.
- Fact-check everything. Cite official sources (Ohio Department of Taxation, IRS, Ohio legislature) for rates, dates, and figures. Link to them in the article.
- Real examples. Show the math. A short worked example (“a Columbus homeowner earning $60,000…”) is worth a thousand generalities.
- Formatting. Use H2/H3 headings, bullet points, and tables where they help. Keep paragraphs short for readability.
- Images. You may include relevant images you own or that are royalty-free, with proper credit.
- Links. One contextual link to your own site is allowed in the author bio. In-article links should go to authoritative sources, not promotional pages. No affiliate links.
- Author bio. Include 2–3 sentences about yourself and your expertise, plus one link.
- No AI-generated submissions. We welcome writers who use AI as a research assistant, but the writing itself must be yours.
How to Pitch
Email your pitch to contact.ohiotaxguide@gmail.com with the subject line “Guest Post Pitch: [Your Topic]”. Include:
- 2–3 headline options for your article
- A short outline (5–8 bullet points) showing what the article will cover
- One paragraph on why you’re qualified to write about this topic
- A link to 1–2 writing samples
We review every pitch and reply within about 5 business days. If your topic is a fit, we’ll ask for the full draft.
Editorial Process
Once your draft is accepted, we fact-check every figure against official sources and may make light edits for clarity, style, and accuracy. We’ll share substantial changes with you before publishing. Most accepted articles are published within 1–2 weeks of final approval.
We reserve the right to decline any submission that doesn’t meet our guidelines, and to remove or update published guest posts if errors are found later. Accuracy is non-negotiable — our readers make real financial decisions based on what we publish.
